ranting and raving...

so i've been OBSESSIVELY reading knitting blogs for the past three weeks or so, and I am inspired again.

thanks, knitblogging community. i salute you.

[raises glass]

i have also been obsessively knitting lately. i have four more decreases on the second sleeve of the hourglass sweater and then I can join the second sleeve and begin the yoke.

The boy and I were knitting the other night while watching tv, [yes, he knits! aren't i lucky?] actually we've been knitting and watching tv a lot lately.

But over the weekend we watched all the episodes of Battlestar Galactica (BSG) that are avalable on DVD. It was fun. That's a really good show. I guess that I am actually a total geek. (A stylish geek with good taste, but a geek nonetheless.) (Little known BSG fact? They saw "frack" instead of "fuck." I like it and have adopted it!)

In other news, I have taken on new responsibilites at my job, things that are, without a doubt, not part of what i was hired to do. The girl who was hired to do them is rarely if ever int he office, and i suspect is not long for this position. I'm hoping that I can take her place when she leaves/gets fired. She's out sick constantly, is always late and leaves early. (Which, in the right circumstances, would probably not be so bad, but she's only been working there for 8 weeks or so.)

I would love to go into more detail and name names, but I don't want to get dooced.

The geek thing from a second ago though? I have discovered that I really like things that are logical. I have been working on the database system that we are using to track jobs in the office [I'm a graphic designer, so it's WAY outside my job duties!] (she, who shall remain nameless, faceless, and altogether unidentifiable, doesn't want anything to do with it, she'd rather that the company should spend an assload of money on new software that NO ONE understands, at least all the people who aren't in the corporate office already know how to work this thing, but i'm not bitter.)

I've spent several hours of the last few days tweaking this thing so that we can use it. It's only halfway set up for our use. (They want to outsource this stuff, but I think that's dumb when I have the time, inclination, and ability to do it myself. I'm just hoping that all this work will be reflected in my performance review.)

Anyhow. We'll have to wait and see.

I was just going to make a quick post and then hit the sack, and I've been working on this for about 45 minutes now. So I'll check you bitches later. :-)
